World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. Haven’t heard of it yet? Well, it’s Blizzards latest expansion announcement for the game that just keeps on going, and going, and going… Better yet, why not watch the trailer below then we’ll talk.
Well, holy schnikes. Did you just see that? I am <clever joke> PUMPED! Why, oh why does this always happen? I finally get off of WoW even casually and then they bring out something incredible and I get the itch to dive back in again.
What do we do? WTF do I do?
Well after thinking and thinking I only ended up with an answer that gives another question: When will I answer their call to arms?
Whether you hail from Stormwind or have suffered the ravages of Outland to Orgimmar it is the time to take up your banner’s flag. Or at least it will be… in maybe a year? Or so? Because one thing Blizzard has been adamant about this time around is that they are never interested in repeating another Warlords of Draenor. What I mean to say is they aren’t going to fast-track an expansion ever again. It’s now expected that each expansion will last at a minimum of about 2 years. That seems to be the sweet spot. It’s not to say that Warlords was a bad expansion per say, it simply wasn’t designed to last the length of time that it did. So just after a year it’s content started to trickle to a halt and players felt the burn along with their subscriptions.
But I digress. Battle for Azeroth, dare I hope that their promise this time round of bringing the fight back to the Horde and Alliance will ring true? Because that’s what I was promised a few expansions ago. First with Wrath of the Lich King we “set aside our differences” and begrudgingly joined forces so that we could face a greater threat; Arthas. This also happened in Cataclysm when we needed to confront Deathwing.
Well, I’m done being friends! I want to fight! I thought I was in a World of Warcraft. Not in a place of make-nice. As I understand it our tenuous truce is done. We’re at war folks. It’s go time.
So now with all of that accepted, I’ve decided to make the plunge back into WoW. I know I’ve still got a good amount of time to go before Battle of Azeroth but I’ve got a small bucket list of things to do. Transmog of artifact weapons, class mounts, completion of any raids I haven’t fully finished… It’s WoW man, there are always things to do. If my last two sentences didn’t make any sense then maybe you too should dive in a bit early. The current expansion, Legion, is absolutely stellar and I just don’t have space here to do it justice. If you like WoW, have never played, Alliance or Horde it simply does not matter. Jump back in, except your fate and I’ll see you in Azeroth.
